Report: Seattle's $3.1B Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement on budget, delays possible

A report by the Washington State Department of Transportation's Expert Review Panel said the $3.1 billion project to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle, including the $2 billion tunnel, can be completed on budget. "Current challenges notwithstanding, the ERP finds that, based on information available to us, the Project is likely to be completed, within the existing budget, and on a schedule that is somewhat delayed," the report said. However, "[a]s is true for any project of this size and complexity, challenges remain that would adversely affect the project," the report noted.
