Alaska House Judiciary panel approves tougher animal-cruelty bill

A bill that seeks tougher penalties for animal cruelty in Alaska cleared the state's House Judiciary panel on Friday. The measure, which now heads to the House Finance Committee for review, would make certain animal cruelty violations a felony with a sentence of up to five years.
