Read Across America event is used to interest students in books

Schools nationwide will recognize the Read Across America event Tuesday, an annual program held on the birthday of the author Dr. Seuss -- Theodor Seuss Geisel -- to highlight the importance of literacy and excite students about reading. In honor of the event, one teacher said, she is challenging students to read books that represent different regions or are set in different U.S. states.
