U.S. issues first deep-water drilling permit since BP spill

The Interior Department approved its first permit for deep-water oil drilling since a BP blowout last year triggered a destructive spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Michael Bromwich, director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, said the permit will allow Noble Energy of Houston to resume work in the Gulf of Mexico southeast of Venice, La.
