CFTC's O'Malia discusses OTC derivatives rules transparency

Scott O'Malia, a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has been pushing for increased transparency in the writing of new rules governing the over-the-counter derivatives market. In this interview, O'Malia discusses his efforts and why he believes they are important. "[T]hese rules, among other things, will determine which OTC derivative contracts must go through a clearing process and which ones can continue to use the old bilateral, dealer-to-dealer model," O'Malia said.
