Chicago teams up with tech firms on early-college high schools

Chicago Public Schools will partner with private technology companies -- including Microsoft and IBM -- and the City Colleges of Chicago to operate five early-college schools offering six-year programs focused on technology and career skills. At the end of the program, students will earn a high-school diploma, an associate degree and will be "first in line" for a job interview at the company that partnered with their school, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Tuesday. Employment will not be guaranteed.
