Senate schedules debate on amendments to $109B transportation bill

Debate on amendments to the Senate's $109 billion highway bill is re-opened, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who agreed to let a vote about contraception take place to preserve progress on the highway bill. "Republicans made it clear we would not be able to move forward on this bill without a vote," Reid said. "I believe it is vital to get this jobs bill done … so after discussing it, I have decided we should just set up a vote..."
