Diabetes does not increase risk of knee surgery complications

Knee replacement patients with diabetes did not show a higher risk of postsurgical complications than those who did not have diabetes, regardless of whether their diabetes was controlled or uncontrolled, researchers reported in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. The study was based on more than 40,000 patients who underwent total knee replacement between 2001 and 2009.
