Government figures underestimate carbon's impact, critics say

The government's efforts to calculate the social cost of carbon emissions are based on outdated science and underestimate the emissions' true impact, critics say. Federal agencies estimate the social cost of carbon at $37 per metric ton, but that "should be regarded as the lower bound on the true number," said Richard Revesz, director of New York University's Institute for Policy Integrity.
