Pensions' costs to transfer liability to annuities are unchanged

The prices pension plan sponsors must pay to transfer risk to annuities held stable at 108.5% of the accounting liability in January, according to the Mercer U.S. Pension Buyout Index. In the same period, the cost of retaining risk rose from 108.6% to 108.7% of balance sheet liability.
