Rising revenue cuts U.S. budget deficit

The U.S. budget deficit for fiscal 2013 totaled $680 billion, the smallest amount since 2008, according to the Treasury Department. It was the biggest one-year drop since the end of World War II. The Treasury attributes much of the decline to higher tax revenue, received because the economy is improving.
