Calif.'s stem cell grant candidates to complement state funds

Twelve grant applicants to California's stem cell program offered to provide $495 million of their own funds in seeking $262 million in grants. The state stem cell program predicts that about $750 million worth of new laboratories will be established as a result of this "matching and leverage" strategy, which was backed by California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Chairman Robert Klein.
