Senate committee members oppose DOT funding cuts

Members of the Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday criticized the Bush administration's plans to cut funding for the essential air service program from $110 million to $50 million. Lawmakers also criticized the White House's plan to cut overall discretionary funding for the DOT from $69.2 billion to $63.4 billion while boosting funding for modernizing air traffic control systems.
