EIA: Wind to double by 2035 with continuation of PTC

As much as 9% of the country's electricity will come from nonhydro renewable sources by 2035, five percentage points higher than 2010 levels, according to the Energy Information Administration. Wind-generated power will double by 2035, although growth will be affected if the renewable-energy Production Tax Credit expires at the end of the year, the EIA said. In the long run, "renewable technologies may continue to be built as they become increasingly competitive with other electricity generation options," the agency added.
