New York City construction industry struggles

Construction projects in the New York metropolitan region are predicted to drop by 15% in 2009, according to McGraw Hill's Construction Outlook 2009 report. However, the retail sector and public sector provide opportunities for refurbishing older building in the Big Apple. "There are no malls in New York, so buildings are stand-alone projects, and these older buildings bring special challenges," said Caroline Weiss, managing partner of the New York office of KPFF.
