Syngenta might make buyout offer for Dow Chemical unit

Syngenta would be interested in acquiring Dow Chemical's agricultural-sciences division if the parent company were interested in selling it, a Syngenta spokesman said. Syngenta has yet to receive confirmation that Dow AgroSciences, which makes pesticides and biotech seeds, is for sale. Analysts said Dow Chemical might divest the business to finance its $15.4 billion acquisition of Rohm & Haas.
