Army Corps to spend more than $100M to reinforce Louisiana canals

The Army Corps of Engineers intends to spend more than $100 million for the repair and reinforcement of the weaker segments of the London Avenue Canal and two other water channels in New Orleans to increase their safe water levels and provide better flood protection to the city. But several local officials have voiced opposition to the plan and called for the structures to be rebuilt.
