Dodd commentary: Failure on regulatory reform not an option

Sen. Chris Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, explains how the financial crisis has affected Americans through losses of jobs, homes and retirement funds. Dodd says the worst part is that the economic and financial systems remain vulnerable to future crises. "To restore faith in our markets and the economic security of the American middle class -- and to avert a potential future catastrophe -- Congress must pass comprehensive reform of our financial system," Dodd writes.
