European lawmakers seek more information on capital-adequacy rules

Members of the European Parliament asked the European Commission to provide more information about discussions with the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision regarding capital requirements for banks. Lawmakers said they are concerned with the commission's piecemeal approach to capital requirements. They want to change the way the commission negotiates with the Basel Committee.
