Florida begins work on I-595 toll lanes

Construction crews have begun work on adding electronic toll lanes to Interstate 595, Florida's most expensive project of the year. The $1.8 billion project is expected to relieve congestion and be completed in less than five years, which would be a record for major interstate projects. The reconstruction is being led by a Spanish multinational company in a first-of-its-kind private-public partnership that reduces the time it would have taken the state to complete the project on its own.
