JFK runway closure expected to trigger delays around nation

The 4-month closure of the main runway at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport is expected to have a ripple effect around the nation, causing delays at airports as far away as Los Angeles and San Francisco. Starting today, the runway will be closed and repaved with concrete and widened to accommodate larger airplanes, and airlines are adding time to their schedules, in addition to cutting flights, in order to adjust to the closure.
