Storms, disasters snarl air travel worldwide

Natural disasters and severe weather have forced "massive flight cancellations around the world" as airlines grapple with earthquakes, tsunamis and blizzards. Chile's main airport was closed by Saturday's magnitude 8.8 earthquake, and airlines scrambled to re-accommodate passengers throughout South America. Tsunami fears briefly disrupted Hawaiian flights, and Paris saw widespread cancellations due to high winds. Closer to home, the Air Transport Association reported 2,700 cancellations on Thursday and Friday, from Philadelphia to Boston, as heavy snow blanketed the region.
