Free journals may sway prescribing, German study finds

Free medical journals financed by pharmaceutical advertising may influence physicians to prescribe newer, expensive drugs, according to German researchers. The report in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, which only looked at German journals, said those that were free had mainly positive recommendations for drugs, while those that were fee-based offered more critical analyses.
