Hotels rush to comply with new pool rules, but doubts remain

Some hotel owners say they still hold misgivings over the practicality of new pool lift regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as the Justice Department's interpretation of the rules. However, others defer their opinions to AH&LA as more properties rush to comply by the March 15 deadline. "Once you start dealing with the fact this is civil rights, people are concerned that they don't want their comments to be taken the wrong way, as big business against the disabled community," said Kevin Maher, senior vice president for governmental affairs with AH&LA.
