Local anti-gay law scares Russian advocates nationwide

LGBT advocates across Russia fear a widening crackdown on their activities after St. Petersburg officials easily passed a law banning pro-LGBT “propaganda.” The law as written is aimed at protecting minors, but activists say it will effectively ban advocacy for LGBT rights.
