N.Y. legislator proposes a tax-relief bill for flood-hit families

New York state Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a Democrat, is sponsoring a bill that would enable homeowners who were affected by last year's storms to get tax relief based on the damage done to their homes. "We did the very same thing in 2006 -- passed a flood-assessment-relief act -- and, in fact, the state did come through with monies to help municipalities become whole," Lupardo said.
