Indianapolis teachers face layoffs

The Indianapolis teachers union fears as many as 300 of the district's 3,200-member corps could be receive pink slips this spring, although the cash-strapped district has not confirmed any final numbers. Superintendent Eugene White said a new state funding formula based on enrollment stability is behind the budget crisis in his district, which lost 900 students this year.
