California lawmakers urge national adoption of global warming laws

California state legislative leaders told a Senate committee Thursday that the nation could benefit by following California's lead in taking action to reduce global warming emissions. California's global warming law, signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last year, set forth the nation's first cap on greenhouse gas emissions and aims to reduce emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
