House approves Employee Free Choice Act

The U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation Thursday making it easier for unions to organize workers, despite intense pressure from business groups. The legislation passed by a 241-185 vote, and is now expected to be blocked by a Republican filibuster in the Senate. The White House has pledged a veto if the bill reaches President George W. Bush's desk.
