Chemical industry blasts Obama's proposed revival of Superfund tax

The chemical industry is among those criticizing President Barack Obama's budget proposal, which includes tax increases on higher wage earners, farms and companies. Of particular concern to the chemical industry is Obama's proposal that the Superfund tax, which was rescinded in 1995, be revived to help pay to clean up industrial sites. The ACC strongly objects to the tax because it would affect "all chemical manufacturers ... regardless if there is any connection to a Superfund site," said ACC President and CEO Cal Dooley.
