Coalition unveils common security framework for HIT

The Health Information Trust Alliance -- a coalition made up of more than 50 health care firms and technology distributors -- has introduced a common security framework that would serve as a standard for protecting the privacy of electronic medical records. The model is designed to perform certain tasks, including safeguarding online access to EMRs and enabling physicians and hospitals to remotely share patient data.
