Experts debate lessons of Eclipse Aviation

Analysts have begun evaluating the lessons and legacy of the Eclipse 500, a VLJ that seemed destined to transform the general aviation market until its parent company was forced into liquidation proceedings last week. One company official claims Eclipse created a whole new aviation category, but critics say the company promised more than it could ever deliver. "The legacy of Eclipse was its ability to raise money and sell hope," says J. Mac McClellan, editor in chief of Flying Magazine.
