SEC examines procedures for keeping client assets safe

The Securities and Exchange Commission is looking at the custodial arrangements and procedures of some investment advisers and brokerage firms. SEC staff are examining controls for keeping clients' assets safe and how those controls are implemented, according to Lori Richards, director of the agency's office of compliance inspections and examinations.
