UK officials urged to promote language learning

The European Commission is supporting a goal of enhancing language learning among the UK's secondary-school pupils, saying that four out of five should be studying two European languages by 2020. However, less than half of secondary schools would currently be able to even offer enough language courses to meet that goal.
