V Australia arrives in U.S., steps up trans-Pacific fare war

Richard Branson fired the latest salvo in the trans-Pacific fare war on Friday with the first Los Angeles arrival of V Australia, his new Down Under airline. About 300 passengers arrived on the inaugural flight from Sydney, marking a third entrant on a route long dominated by Qantas and United Airlines. Thanks to an open skies agreement signed last year between the U.S. and Australia, Delta Air Lines is expected to add to the competition later this year.
