Bunning's force play leaves satcasters without distant-signal licenses

DirecTV and the National Programming Service are continuing to transmit distant TV, despite the Feb. 28 expiration of their licenses. Both entities have been told by lawmakers that the eventual reauthorization of the licenses will be backdated to Feb. 28. The vote on licenses has been caught up in a move by Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., to block several unrelated spending measures.
