Dow sells Styron unit to private-equity firm for $1.63 billion

Dow Chemical has agreed to sell its Styron business to Bain Capital for $1.63 billion in cash and about $400 million in supply and purchase agreements. "This transaction is yet another step in our disciplined approach to portfolio management, and is consistent with both the timeline and value we previously communicated for these assets," said Dow CEO Andrew Liveris.
