Google executive: Nexus One phone a "benchmark setter"

Google's chief financial officer said Monday that the company's new Nexus One smartphone had "raised the bar" for rivals, which had since shipped more advanced Android-based devices. "It was a benchmark setter," Patrick Pichette said at an analyst meeting, adding that Google was delighted by the handset's results. Reports out of the U.K. indicate Google and carrier Vodafone might introduce the Nexus One in April.
