Homeland Security head wants more women-owned contractors

House Homeland Security Chairman Bennie Thompson brought federal procurement officials and major federal contractors to meet small-business owners last month in Kansas City to talk about how his department can award more work to small, minority- and women-owned businesses. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., said Thompson has been a tireless advocate for minority- and women-owned businesses in his dealings with major contractors.
