Obama administration extends home-refinancing program

The White House has extended the Home Affordable Refinance Program, which was originally set to expire this summer, for another year to give borrowers with little or no equity in their homes more time to take advantage of the program. Edward DeMarco, acting director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, said the idea was to give lenders and borrowers more time as market conditions have not changed significantly.
