Sprint's Hesse to health care providers: Use WiMAX

WiMAX technology can help medical providers far beyond using smartphones to access wireless applications, Sprint Nextel CEO Dan Hesse told a health care group Monday, urging the industry to closely study the carrier's 4G network, which would deliver a "secure licensed spectrum" to transmit information. Beyond mobile phones, "there will be TVs, netbooks, remote monitoring devices and videoconferencing devices," Hesse said, noting that apps already provide instant and secure access to tests, X-rays and records.
