$471M roof on B.C. Place can withstand extreme weather conditions

The $471 million retractable roof on B.C. Place stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, is designed to resist strong winds and tolerate heavy loads of snow, said BC Pavilion Corp. Chairman David Podmore. The arena's tent-like roof is made of almost 20,000 tons of steel, and it has 36 masts, each 164 feet long.
