N.Y. Dems urge key House committees to investigate fracking fluids

New York Democratic Reps. Carolyn Maloney, Maurice Hinchey and Jerrold Nadler joined Natural Resources Committee ranking member Edward Markey, D-Mass., in seeking a hearing on the possible health effects of untreated fracking fluids entering rivers. "If federal and state regulations have not kept pace with this growing industry, we need to know before it creates a public health concern," according to a letter sent by the lawmakers to the House Energy and Commerce and the Transportation and Infrastructure committees.
