USDA allots $5.5M to encourage healthier meals in schools

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced $5.5 million in grants to encourage school districts to participate in the HealthierUS School Challenge, a national effort to fight childhood obesity by getting schools to serve nutritious meals to students. State agencies can receive grants of up to $50,000 for efforts to increase the number of participating schools.
