Organizations breed mistrust with employees when they implicitly promise long-term job security that no longer exists, writes Tamara J. Erickson. "[T]he organization should not implicitly promise protection and care that it realistically can't and won't provide," she writes. Companies can restore trust by building a new relationship with employees based on current economic realities, she writes.
