Detroit examines its convention center options

Although the mayor of Detroit is in favor of a new $1 billion replacement for the city's Cobo Center, the convention bureau's Tourism Action Group is looking into alternatives, writes Detroit News columnist Daniel Howes. A renovation and expansion of the existing convention center may be the more economically viable option, Howes says.
