NYC to eliminate most middle schools beginning this fall

New York City school officials are hoping to strengthen middle-grade education by eliminating as many as two-thirds of the city's 218 middle schools over the next five years. Administrators plan to replace them with kindergarten-through-8th grade grammar schools and 6th-through-12th grade high schools.
