IRS to probe executive compensation

The personal tax returns of "corporate officers and other key executives" may be subject to much greater scrutiny by IRS auditors when their companies are the target of examinations. "This is going to send a shock through corporate America and probably will do more to curb the excess compensation that's being paid to executives than anything we've seen," said Arthur Levitt, former chairman of the SEC.
