2009 federal budget bill includes more special-education funds

The 2009 budget bill approved by the U.S. House of Representatives last week would eliminate Reading First funding and eliminate a Washington, D.C., voucher program. The bill, for federal programs for the fiscal year that began Oct. 1, would also modestly boost Title I and special-education funding. The Senate is expected to consider the bill this week.
