A union representing 11,500 pilots for American Airlines scheduled seven meetings around the country on Tuesday to discuss with members a range of possible actions against the company. The Allied Pilots Association said no nationwide strike is planned, though there may be limited walkouts in some cities or pilot bases. The union has not yet asked the National Mediation Board to declare an impasse in negotiations, which started in September 2006. "Time is best spent by working to find mutually beneficial solutions to the issues at hand," said a spokeswoman for American.
